We will design the door hanger and send you a proof - typically within 24 hours or less. |

Submitting Your Camera-Ready ArtworkAlthough Doorhangers Etc. offers free typesetting and design, some do-it-yourselfers prefer to submit their own artwork. For your artwork to be considered "camera ready" it must be completely ready to go to printing plates and press. The following is a list of guidelines to help you prepare your artwork.
Design Software & ProgramsAt Doorhangers Etc we will accept your artwork in just about any file format including: Adobe PageMaker, Corel Draw, Adobe Acrobat PDF, Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft Word. 2-Color ArtYour artwork will be considered "camera-ready" for 2-color printing if it is properly set up for color separations (typically supplied in Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, or as an .eps file) and if set up with the proper margins and gutter. Otherwise, we can still accept your artwork but our graphic artists will have to modify the files to ready them for print. Full Color Art Your artwork will be considered "camera-ready" for full color printing if it is properly set up as CMYK for 4-color process printing (typically supplied in Adobe PhotoShop, jpg, pdf) and if set up to the proper dimensions. Otherwise, we can still accept your artwork but our graphic artists will have to modify the files to ready them for print. Color Separations for 2 Color ArtworkIf your artwork uses 1, 2 or 3 "spot" colors, the colors must be defined as PMS Pantone colors. Full color photos and colors defined as RGB or CMYK will not properly separate to create your 2-color piece.Full Color / 4 Color ArtworkIf your artwork is designed for a full color or 4-color process piece, the colors must be defined as CMYK and saved at 300 dpi resolution. You can supply a PhotoShop file (PSD), jpg, or pdf. Also, please note that the dimensions of our full-color doorhangers are 4" x 11". If your full-color doorhanger includes a "bleed" meaning that the colors or design elements run to the edge of the paper, you must design the doorhanger at 4.125" x 11.125" so that we can trim them down to size with bleed.Margins, Gutters and Print AreaThe diagram above demonstrates the print area for 2-color door hangers. (1) Represents the outside margins, which must be at least 1/4 of an inch. (2) The top and bottom margins must also be at least 1/4 of an inch. For the top margin, 1/2" is best. (3) The gutter area between the two door hangers must be double the outside margins. If your outside margins are 1/4" the gutter will be 1/2" so that the margins will be equal when cut apart. If you artwork is not a door hanger or does not need to be cut apart, you do not need a gutter or hole space. The entire area inside of the top and bottom margin becomes your print area. (4) For your door hanger, you must leave 1 1/2 inches of white space at the top to accommodate the hole. Although small text can appear on either side of the hole. See the downloadable PDF template for an easy visual representation. Full color doorhangers should be designed to 4" x 11". If your full-color doorhanger includes a "bleed" meaning that the colors run to the edge of the paper, you must design the doorhanger at 4.125" x 11.125" so that we can trim them down to size with bleed. Digital Files with Fonts and GraphicsWe may not always have the same fonts as you do. You may have to send the font along with your digital file. You may also need to send any graphics/clip art embedded in your file. The graphics should be .tif, .eps, .jpg at least 300dpi resolution.
